MOFCOM spokesperson said the U.S. State Department on Nov. 5 announced sanctions on two Chinese firms, reportedly the first U.S. action citing involvement with Cuba. China noted the move and firmly opposed unilateral sanctions imposed on Chinese companies on a third‑party basis, calling them violations of international law and basic norms of international relations. The spokesperson said the U.S. has recently escalated sanctions and rolled out discriminatory restrictions that seriously harm Chinese firms’ rights and undermine stability in bilateral trade, departing from leaders’ consensus. China urged the U.S. to correct the measures and said it reserves the right to take necessary actions to safeguard its legitimate interests.
