At the UN General Assembly on the 23rd, President Shala of Syria’s transitional government reiterated that the Golan Heights is Syrian territory, said any violation of Syria’s sovereignty would be stopped, and urged Israeli forces to withdraw to the Dec. 8, 2024 line while reaffirming adherence to the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement. Israel’s defense minister Katz countered in a video statement that the Golan Heights is "forever an inseparable part of Israel."
