MOFCOM said Chinese and U.S. economic teams held the eighth round of talks in
the United States and reached several agreements under the bilateral economic
and trade consultation mechanism. Agreements cover implementation of prior trade
commitments, reciprocal tariff-reduction arrangements, creation of a bilateral
trade council and an investment council, and an extension of the Kuala Lumpur
joint trade-consultation arrangement. Vice Premier He Lifeng and Treasury
Secretary Bessent held the first AI dialogue under the consultation mechanism.
MOFCOM said China will keep close communication with the U.S. on follow-up work.
