China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) jointly released revised Standards for the Discharge of Water Pollutants from Medical Institutions to address incomplete coverage in the existing standard and strengthen support for treating emerging pollutants and for water ecological risk prevention.

The US on Friday announced a new round of sanctions after Iran resumed attacks on international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The Treasury designated Dubai-based Iranian banker and businessman Ali Ansari — previously sanctioned by the UK — as a key financier of Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba, accusing him of moving public wealth into overseas real estate and commercial assets to benefit himself, regime elites and the IRGC. The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control also designated major Iranian currency exchange houses, which it said transfer tens of billions of dollars annually on behalf of sanctioned Iranian banks and use multi-layered shell companies to conceal the government’s illicit financial activity.

The Ministry of Water Resources’ Haihe Water Resources Commission said heavy to torrential rain, locally extremely heavy, is expected in the Luanhe and Beisanhe basins on July 11–12, and rivers within the rainfall area will see significant rises. Under relevant emergency-response plans, Haihe flood control headquarters launched a Level III flood emergency response from 19:00 on July 11 and the Haihe Commission activated a Level III flood-defense response. At 18:00 on July 11 inflow to Panjiakou reservoir on the Luanhe system was 2,240 cubic meters per second; this meets the numbering criteria and is designated Luanhe 2026 No.1 flood under the Ministry of Water Resources’ national major rivers flood numbering list.
