CCP Politburo member and Foreign Affairs Office director Wang Yi said the 16th
BRICS senior security representatives meeting reached consensus to uphold
multilateralism, seek political solutions to hotspots, and coordinate responses
to traditional and non‑traditional security threats. Delegates backed
strengthening BRICS and Global South independence and solidarity, greater use of
the BRICS security‑representatives mechanism for communication and coordination
on major international and regional hotspots, and expanding the scope of “Big
BRICS” cooperation. Wang said China will assume the BRICS rotating presidency
next year and intends to deepen political‑security cooperation.
