ByteDance’s next‑generation Doubao AI phone faces a potential delay after
running into certification hurdles, sources say. The device requires two
clearances: a large‑model filing with the Cyberspace Administration and
network‑access certification from the Ministry of Industry and Information
Technology (MIIT). ByteDance began the filing process in January 2026; the first
application was rejected and a second is pending, leaving the product in filing
status. If approvals proceed smoothly, the earliest commercial launch is
July–August 2026; sale will wait on filing clearance. Supply‑chain shifts
reported: display supplier changed from Tianma on the prior model to BOE;
battery supplier is Desay Battery using ATL cells; assembly/ODM is handled by
Zhongnuo Communications, a unit of A‑share‑listed Furi Electronics.
