Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government will lower the subsidized diesel price from next month and introduce a targeted diesel subsidy aimed at reducing diesel costs rather than raising them. He linked the decision to progress in US‑Iran high‑level talks and cited Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s confidence that the Middle East crisis could be eased, a development he said would help stabilize diesel prices.

With progress in US-Iran talks toward a durable peace deal, regional shipping has risen and crude flows through the Strait of Hormuz are at their highest level since the outbreak of war. Vessel-tracking shows three US‑sanctioned VLCCs—Elva, Virgo and Vigor—entered the strait on Monday carrying about 6 mln barrels of Iranian crude, en route to waters off Singapore. The tankers loaded at Kharg Island, Iran’s main export terminal, adding to roughly 20 mln barrels recently exported from Chabahar in the Gulf of Oman. The shipments indicate Iran is rapidly restoring crude production and resuming loadings from Kharg as cargoes can now reach global markets unimpeded.
