Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government will lower the subsidized diesel price from next month and introduce a targeted diesel subsidy aimed at reducing diesel costs rather than raising them. He linked the decision to progress in US‑Iran high‑level talks and cited Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s confidence that the Middle East crisis could be eased, a development he said would help stabilize diesel prices.

More than 100 companies, including Nestlé and Uber (UBER.N), urged governments to make electrification a central economic strategy.

CSIS senior fellow Mark Cancian said a preliminary CSIS analysis estimates the Iran war has cost the US Department of Defense about $40 billion, covering munitions use, equipment losses and base damage; the figure excludes routine combat spending already budgeted in the DoD's FY26 budget of more than $1 trillion.
