Advanced Micro Devices Inc. forecast second-quarter sales of $11.2 billion, plus
or minus $300 million, above the $10.5 billion estimate, driven by strong AI
infrastructure demand. First-quarter revenue rose 38% to $10.3 billion, with
adjusted earnings of $1.37 per share, both ahead of expectations. Data center
sales climbed 57% to $5.8 billion, while PC revenue rose 23% to $3.6 billion.
Shares gained in after-hours trading and are up 66% this year as AMD benefits
from AI accelerator demand despite Nvidia Corp. competition and memory supply
constraints. CEO Lisa Su said, “Looking ahead, we expect server growth to
accelerate meaningfully as we scale supply to meet demand.”
