On Thursday the Baltic Dry Index rose 43 points (1.2%) to 3,399, led by gains across all vessel classes. The Capesize index (BCI) gained 78 points (1.3%) to 5,939; Capesize average daily earnings rose $709 to $50,361. The Panamax index (BPI) added 49 points (2.1%) to 2,382; Panamax average daily earnings rose $438 to $21,434. The Supramax index (BSI) ticked up 4 points (0.2%) to 1,782.

The inaugural China-Indonesia Strategic Community Dialogue met in Yogyakarta on the 21st–22nd with nearly 50 experts from think-tanks, universities and business; representatives from Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry and the Chinese embassy attended. Co-hosted by the China Institute of International Studies and Indonesia’s Centre for Strategic and International Studies, participants discussed deepening China‑Indonesia strategic cooperation, responses to shifts in the international order and global governance challenges, and said enhanced strategic communication between the two Global South countries is important for regional stability and a more equitable global governance framework.

A-shares coal mining and processing sector rallied, with Yunmei Energy hitting the daily limit; Antai Group, Dayou Energy, Liaoning Energy, Shaanxi Black Cat and Zhengzhou Coal & Power also advanced.
