US Central Command said in a statement and video that US forces carried out a new round of offensive strikes on Iran, using precision-guided munitions to hit more than 80 targets, in what CENTCOM called a direct response to recent Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM said strikes targeted Iranian air-defense systems, command-and-control networks, coastal radar sites and anti-ship missile capabilities, and that US forces destroyed over 60 small vessels belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the Strait and adjacent waters. CENTCOM named three merchant ships Iran previously attacked transiting the Strait — the Marshall Islands-flagged tanker Al Raqayat, the Saudi-flagged tanker Weddian and the Liberia-flagged Cyprus Prosperity — and said US forces remain at heightened readiness and will hold Iran accountable if it fails to comply or breaches any agreement.
