Shanghai Consumer Protection Committee said in its 1H 2026 complaints report
that citywide consumer complaints fell overall, but complaints tied to
shared-rental services and AI-related consumption rose notably. The committee
logged 4,705 shared-service complaints in 1H, up 65.8% YoY. Principal consumer
grievances: shared bikes—billing inaccuracies, unresolved equipment faults and
slow service response; shared power banks—unclear charging rules, unreasonable
overtime fees and device failures. The report also flagged insufficient
disclosure in tourism traffic-driving/promotional activities.
