CNN cited sources saying Russian Direct Investment Fund head and Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev met U.S. Middle East envoy Witkof and Trump senior adviser Jared Kushner in New York on Thursday to discuss U.S.-Russia cooperation and a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict. Dmitriev’s visit aimed to advance mediation and bilateral dialogue; Putin met a U.S. envoy earlier this month. On Wednesday U.S. Secretary of State Rubio met Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov at the UN General Assembly, and Trump this week reiterated he believes the sides will reach an agreement despite ongoing fighting in Ukraine.
