US equities closed mixed on Thursday: the Dow fell 0.31%, the S&P 500 dipped 0.02% and the Nasdaq rose 0.01%. Notable movers included Arm (ARM.O) -7.88%, SanDisk (SNDK.O) -3.47% and Oracle (ORCL.N) -3.49%; Meta Platforms (META.O) +4.5% and Intel (INTC.O) +3.91%. The Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index fell 0.67%; Baidu (BIDU.O) -1.89% and Alibaba (BABA.N) -0.14%.

Financial Times reports MPs have opened an inquiry into the Bank of England’s handling of inflation and whether its monetary-policy independence remains effective.

Russian Defence Ministry’s 24-hour report on the 24th said Russian forces control multiple settlements in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia regions. The ministry said Russian air defenses shot down more than 200 fixed‑wing UAVs, the Black Sea Fleet destroyed one unmanned surface vessel, and it assessed Ukrainian losses of over 1,200 personnel across combat directions. Ukraine said that as of 08:00 local time on the 24th it had shot down or suppressed four Zircon hypersonic missiles, three Iskander‑M missiles and about 220 drones. Kyiv added that overnight from the evening of the 23rd to early 24th Russian forces launched multiple missiles and in excess of 200 drones, with major attacks focused on Odesa and Kyiv regions.
