First Abu Dhabi Bank chief economist Simon Ballard said in a note that while last week’s unanimous Fed decision to raise rates 25bp sent a clear signal that more tightening may be coming, a pause at the October meeting would signal the Fed is committed to returning inflation to target but not initiating a pre-set tightening cycle. LSEG money-market pricing shows a 71% probability of a 25bp move in October.
