S&P Global PMI survey: France's private sector expanded in September at its fastest pace in just over two years as services rebounded. The S&P Global France composite output PMI preliminary reading rose to 51.2 from 48.5. S&P Global Market Intelligence senior chief economist Joe Hayes said the economy showed surprising resilience, but the expansion's sustainability is in doubt because new orders were almost unchanged and firms' activity expectations worsened. Services provided most of the momentum: the services activity PMI preliminary climbed to 51.4 from 48.0, a 10-month high, while manufacturing output growth slowed and remained only marginal.

On Sept 22, at the general debate of the 81st UN General Assembly, President Lula accused Israel of 'genocide' in Gaza and said generations of Palestinians will carry the resulting pain and trauma. He also said Israeli civilians have paid a price for Hamas's terror. Lula warned that illegal settlements in the West Bank are making a two-state solution increasingly difficult, which he called essential for peaceful coexistence.
