S&P Global PMI survey: France's private sector expanded in September at its fastest pace in just over two years as services rebounded. The S&P Global France composite output PMI preliminary reading rose to 51.2 from 48.5. S&P Global Market Intelligence senior chief economist Joe Hayes said the economy showed surprising resilience, but the expansion's sustainability is in doubt because new orders were almost unchanged and firms' activity expectations worsened. Services provided most of the momentum: the services activity PMI preliminary climbed to 51.4 from 48.0, a 10-month high, while manufacturing output growth slowed and remained only marginal.

Trump said Canada is admitting millions of people largely unchecked and unvetted, warning the inflow is destroying the country, will soon create problems that are hard to manage, and is already showing up in macro data, including higher unemployment; he blamed Canada’s Liberal government.
