Anthropic on Tuesday launched Claude Opus 5.5, a lower-cost AI model aimed at broad commercial tasks as the company prepares for a Wall Street IPO. The firm said Opus 5.5 matches the performance of its more powerful Fable 5.1 across most workloads while substantially reducing usage costs versus the prior Opus 5; it also reported faster output and clearer generations. Anthropic plans to expand the 5.5 series in coming weeks with updated Claude Sonnet and Haiku models.
