A Ukrainian drone entered Bulgarian airspace from Romania on Saturday and
exploded on Bulgarian territory, Bulgarian officials said. The device detonated
about 1,000 metres from a compressor station on the cross‑Balkan gas pipeline,
directly threatening critical energy infrastructure. Bulgaria’s defence ministry
said wreckage points to a weapon type widely used by the Ukrainian military.
Prime Minister Rumen Radev said the explosive payload was substantial. Bulgaria
summoned the Ukrainian ambassador and has scheduled a meeting for Monday;
officials said the incident so far appears not to have been deliberate.
