A Middle East analyst said dialogue is unlikely to resume in the short term given ongoing hostilities, a fragile trust foundation and widespread public skepticism in both countries; U.S. strikes during the funeral period of former supreme leader Khamenei make rapid confidence-building difficult. Qatar, Oman and Pakistan continue mediation efforts to try to restore communication channels between Washington and Tehran.
