Sinopec said the Long March 10B, successfully net-recovered in Hainan, used at
scale high-purity methane produced from liquefied natural gas as aerospace fuel
for the first time, marking a key technology breakthrough in fuel
diversification for China’s commercial space sector. The two-stage reusable
rocket, developed for the commercial market, has a 5‑metre core diameter and
core components are 100% domestically produced. The LOX‑methane propellant used
in this launch had 98.7% methane purity and was entirely domestically supplied.
