Techradar reports European cloud provider Nextcloud left an unprotected database on the public internet, exposing sensitive internal and customer data that anyone with the access path could retrieve. Nextcloud is an open-source platform for building private clouds and is often used as an alternative to Google Drive or Microsoft 365 to control data location.

The Database Development Research Report (2026) projects China’s database market will reach 979.74 yuan-100m units (97.97 bln yuan) by 2028, implying a 13.06% CAGR. The report says the 2025 global database market was $131.6 bln; China’s market stood at $9.49 bln, or 7.2% of the global total. As of June 2026, global counts of open‑source and closed‑source commercial database products were roughly equal; Chinese commercial database products account for more than 70% of the domestic market, while open‑source database share has been rising.
