On the afternoon of the 9th (local time), South Korea's Supreme Court sentenced former President Yoon Suk-yeol to 7 years for obstructing an arrest. This is the Supreme Court's first final ruling among several cases tied to the emergency-martial-law episode. Seoul Central District Court handed a 5-year sentence at first instance in January 2026; the Seoul High Court upheld a 7-year term on appeal in April 2026.
