Axios reported Citadel Securities CEO Ken Griffin told a private meeting
Wednesday he would back Marco Rubio if the 2028 Republican primary pits Rubio
against Vice President Vance. Griffin, one of the party’s largest political
donors, gave more than $100m in 2024. His comments highlight an intra-party
split: establishment backers coalescing around Rubio versus anti-establishment
factions favoring Vance, in part because Vance opposes deeper U.S. involvement
overseas. Griffin said he has backed Rubio before and would lean to do so again
but did not specify how he would help; Rubio has said he would yield to Vance if
Vance ran.
