Brent three-month futures spread touched $2.36/bbl, the highest since June 16 — the day after the US and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on a peace agreement.

Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf posted on social media on July 8 accusing the United States of five serious breaches of an Iran‑US memorandum of understanding: undermining arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz; ongoing threats of further strikes on Iran; reinstating oil sanctions; attacks on southern Iran; and Israel’s continued aggression in Lebanon. Ghalibaf wrote, "The era of bullying and extortion is over. This road won't work. We will not yield." Earlier US forces struck southern Iran.
