U.S. equities closed lower on Tuesday: the Dow fell 0.25%, the S&P 500 fell 0.45% and the Nasdaq fell 1.16%. Storage-chip names extended losses—SanDisk (SNDK.O) -7%, Western Digital (WDC.O) down nearly 8%, Micron Technology (MU.O) -4.7%. SpaceX (SPCX.O) slid about 7%. The Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index fell 0.57%; iQiyi (IQ.O) dropped nearly 7%.

On July 7, CENTCOM said U.S. Central Command forces have begun a series of strikes against Iran to respond to Iranian targeting and attacks on civilian‑crewed commercial vessels in international waterways. CENTCOM said the strikes were in response to attacks on three merchant ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz and described Iran’s actions as unjustified, dangerous and a clear violation of a ceasefire agreement.
