Baltic Dry Index (BDI) closed up 78 pts (+2.79%) at 2,875, its highest in nearly a month, led by a 205-pt (4.76%) gain in the Capesize index to 4,514. Panamax rose 14 pts (0.63%) to 2,230, Supramax ticked up 1 pt to 1,676, while Handysize eased 7 pts to 929.

Dozens of countries and international organizations will send senior representatives to the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and an accompanying high-level AI governance meeting in Shanghai from July 17-20, Foreign Ministry AI coordinator Sun Xiaobo said on July 7. Delegates will exchange views on frontier AI development and governance topics during the governance session. The ministry will also organise a collective delegation tour to showcase China’s AI development and governance achievements and Shanghai as an international metropolis.
