Samsung Electronics said employees in its semiconductor business will receive
performance bonuses of up to 100% of base salary for 1H, matching the level paid
in H2 last year; payments will be made Wednesday. The payout coincides with an
industry-wide AI supercycle and continued rise in high-bandwidth memory (HBM)
shipments. Analysts estimate Samsung’s memory-chip unit earned roughly 140
trillion won in operating profit in 1H (about $91bn) and say full-year operating
profit could approach 350 trillion won. Samsung will release Q2 guidance on
Tuesday.
