India’s minister of information technology Krishnan said on Thursday the government is investigating a data breach at Tata Electronics that exposed documents related to Apple (AAPL.O)’s unreleased iPhone 18 Pro — the government’s first public comment. The incident has been reported to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). Reports say a ransomware group stole data from the Apple supplier and posted files on the dark web, including component lists, sensitive supplier lists and photos of the iPhone 18 Pro. The breach reportedly also affected Tesla and Qualcomm. Tata Group has engaged global advisers to conduct a legal audit.

Japan's finance minister Katayama said the government is prepared to take appropriate measures against yen volatility but would not comment on specific exchange-rate levels. She said Tokyo remains in close contact with US authorities on FX. On rising JGB yields, Katayama said the government will seek to implement fiscal measures to shore up market confidence. Monetary policy is for the Bank of Japan to decide; she expects the BoJ to maintain close communication with the government and take appropriate policy to stabilize progress toward its price target.
