July 3 — Alibaba DAMO Academy, with Renmin University of China and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, released its first superconducting-material discovery AI agent, Elements Claw. The system predicted about 68,000 candidate superconductors; four novel materials have been synthesized and experimentally confirmed to exhibit superconductivity, and all related data have been made publicly available.

China's 10th typhoon of the year, Maysak, made landfall around 18:20 on July 3 on the coast of Lingshui Li Autonomous County, Hainan. Near-center maximum winds were about 23 m/s (force 9) and central pressure was 990 hPa. It is the first typhoon to make landfall in China this year.
