Typhoon Maysak, the 10th storm of the year, formed early on July 3 and is
forecast to move north‑northwest at 10–15 km/h, intensify, and make landfall
between Wanning and Sanya in the afternoon to evening of July 3 as a tropical
storm or severe tropical storm. Hainan Meteorological Bureau upgraded the
typhoon warning from level 4 to level 3 at 06:30 on July 3. Hainan’s provincial
disaster‑reduction committee raised the flood/typhoon/drought emergency response
from level 4 to level 3 at 07:00 on July 3.
