About 20 domestic and international chipmakers, including Infineon, Texas Instruments and STMicroelectronics, have launched a new round of price increases, with power semiconductors the main category; several had already announced price rises earlier this year. Infineon, the world’s largest power semiconductor maker, said at its June 30 media day the hikes are primarily driven by rising costs such as raw materials. The company said strong demand for power semiconductors is largely AI-driven—especially surging power needs at AI data centers—and that Infineon will dynamically adjust AI-related production capacity to market demand while continuing to expand capacity.

Fed chair Kevin Warsh said expanding supply will have a significant impact on policy.
