Huadian's Chongqing Tongnan gas-fired project — China’s first 550 MW F-class
gas-turbine installation — has begun full-capacity commercial generation to
support summer peak supply and the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle's
low-carbon transition. The plant comprises two 550.12 MW split-shaft gas‑steam
combined‑cycle peaking units, total installed capacity 1,100 MW, with expected
annual output of 2.1 bln kWh (roughly supply for 1.75 mln households). Estimated
annual savings: about 200,000 tonnes of standard coal and CO2 reductions of
860,000 tonnes.
