A regulatory filing shows Apple (AAPL.O) told the Competition Commission of
India (CCI) on June 25 that investigators 'parroted' competitors' allegations in
their antitrust probe, failed to conduct an independent inquiry and asked the
CCI to set aside the findings. In 2024 CCI investigators privately issued a
report alleging Apple abused its iOS app platform and unlawfully compelled use
of its payment system; Apple denies the claims. Apple said it is an
'insignificant participant' in the Indian smartphone market with under 6% share
and that the probe's conclusions relied on rival submissions rather than CCI
independent analysis.
