China’s National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) said 197 TV and online drama projects were registered for production in June 2026. By format: 61 TV dramas (30.9%); 136 online dramas, including 37 mid‑length series (18.8%); 22 short series (11.2%); 2 seasonal series (1.0%); and 75 online feature films (38.1%). By subject: 107 contemporary (54.3%); 4 modern (2.0%); 30 near‑modern/early‑20th‑century period (15.2%); and 56 ancient/period dramas (28.5%).
