As part of South Korea's President Lee flagship industrial strategy, Samsung Group and SK Group are preparing to announce an investment programme of up to 2,000 trillion won (about $1.3tn) over the next decade. Reports say Samsung and SK Hynix would each build four to five semiconductor fabs in Gwangju. Samsung also plans a chip packaging plant in Chungcheongnam-do; SK Hynix is set to expand a NAND plant in Chungcheongbuk-do.

Governors exchanged views on the international economic and financial outlook, measuring second‑round inflation effects, and the impact of AI. During the meeting PAN held bilateral talks with several fellow governors to discuss financial cooperation.
