U.S. chip stocks slipped in after-hours trading: Micron Technology (MU.O) down nearly 4%, Western Digital (WDC.O) and Marvell (MRVL.O) down about 2% each, Qualcomm (QCOM.O) down 1%.

NEA deputy director Wan Jinsong told a State Council briefing that China will continue to rely on coal power during the 15th Five-Year Plan to support rapid renewables build-out and meet energy demand. He said China’s thermal power installed share is about 40% (below the global average); China accounted for more than half of global new wind and solar capacity in recent years; and since the 14th Five-Year Plan coal-fired capacity share has fallen from 49% to 32% and coal generation share from 61% to 51%.
