Du Zhongming, director of the Power Department at the National Energy
Administration, said at a State Council Information Office briefing that China’s
annual average incremental electricity demand during the 15th Five-Year Plan
period is expected to be about 600 billion kWh. He cited a surge in electricity
for computing, rapid expansion of EV charging infrastructure, and persistent
industrial and residential demand as the main drivers.
