KCNA reported on June 26 that N. Korea leader Kim Jong Un observed weapons tests
on June 25 focused on artillery and missile modernization. Tests included an
upgraded 240mm 24-tube rocket launcher with automated fire control and
indigenous precision guidance, range extended to 90 km; a tactical ballistic
missile fitted with a "special mission" warhead said to be intended for lethal,
destructive strikes on enemy airports, ports and power facilities; and a 155mm
self-propelled gun trialing an extended-range projectile reaching 65 km. Kim
said the tests demonstrate major technical progress in automation, range and
ultra-precision.
