A magnitude-6.9 earthquake struck offshore eastern Honshu at 06:30 Beijing time
on June 25, hypocenter depth 50 km. Strong shaking was reported across parts of
the Tohoku region. At least six people were injured. No tsunami risk was
detected. The Japan Meteorological Agency said at a morning briefing that
similar-magnitude quakes could occur over the next week and did not rule out the
possibility of stronger shaking, urging residents to remain vigilant.
