President Trump asked Congress on Wednesday to approve nearly $88 billion to
cover Iran war costs, farm aid and disaster recovery, Politico reported. The
package includes $67.1 bln for the Pentagon, of which $21.0 bln is for
replenishing munitions expended in the four-month Middle East conflict; $17.3
bln for military operations; $1.7 bln for readiness; and $1.5 bln for fuel. The
request will need at least partial bipartisan support to pass the Senate and
faces significant resistance as lawmakers grow increasingly wary of the
unpopular war.
