Hang Seng index futures opened the day session up 0.71% at 23,480, trading a 144-point premium to the cash index.

At the morning close, China’s most-active commodity futures were mixed. SHFE silver fell more than 5% and SHFE tin nearly 5%; SC crude oil and propylene dropped over 3%; benzene, methanol, polypropylene and SHFE gold declined more than 2%. Rapeseed meal, lithium carbonate and live hogs rose over 1%; eggs, glass and DCE No.1 soybean gained about 1%.

ASML (ASML.O) and the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) have agreed to jointly develop and commercialize photonic chips. The collaboration centers on a pilot production line under construction at TNO’s High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. ASML will provide manufacturing support in phases, including DUV and i-line lithography equipment. On commissioning the facility will have 6-inch wafer-scale indium phosphide (InP) photonic chip mass-production capability.
