Israeli equities and the shekel were the worst-performing assets globally this month. The TA-35 is down more than 12% in USD terms year-to-date this month, the largest decline among major indices. June’s sell-off is the steepest since October 2023. From Nov 2023 to early June the shekel had appreciated about 42% vs USD and Israeli equities nearly quadrupled, outpacing the KOSPI; those gains are now reversing. Since US–Iran talks began, the shekel has fallen roughly 5% so far in June, the biggest drop among currencies. Bank Hapoalim said local investors view any emerging US–Iran agreement as failing to improve Israel’s long-term security and as falling well short of the high expectations set during the opening phase of Israel’s military campaign.

The Ministry of Emergency Management said at a flood-season safety briefing on June 23 that extreme weather breaking past patterns has increased. The rain band has shifted westward and expanded northward; compared with the 1990s, humid and semi‑humid zones have grown by over 300,000 sq km in the past five years. In northern China the five‑year average number of heavy‑rain events is roughly 50% higher than in the 1990s, and the composite intensity of those events is about 50% above the long‑term seasonal average. Northern flood control has shifted from infrequent major tests to a regular, high‑stress challenge. Over the next five years wetter conditions in northern China are expected to continue, with above‑normal precipitation likely across much of Northeast China and North China and elevated disaster risk from heavy rain and severe convective storms.
