Hang Seng futures opened the day session up 0.17% at 23,801, trading 32 points above the cash index.

On June 22 the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) released a global high‑risk agricultural map, warning a new El Nifio could form within weeks and pose a severe threat to crop and pasture production. Using 41 years of satellite imagery, FAO identified the Sahel, southern Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central America’s dry corridor and the Caribbean as highest‑risk areas, with some cropland and rangeland facing >50% odds of drought in the coming months. FAO said higher baseline global temperatures and widespread conflict and food insecurity will amplify impacts on vulnerable regions.

China condemns any attacks on innocent civilians and urges parties to exercise calm and restraint and stop strikes on civilians and civilian infrastructure, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a regular briefing on June 22. China said dialogue and negotiations are the only viable way to resolve the Ukraine crisis and called on the parties to cool the situation to create conditions for resuming direct talks.
