US Vice President Vance said on June 22 in Switzerland the US has procedures to
ensure any unfrozen Iranian assets would support Iranian civilians, not fund
terrorism, and that released funds would be used to purchase US soybeans, corn
and wheat under a US–Qatar approval mechanism. TASNIM NEWS quoted a source close
to Iran‑US talks denying any agreement contains such a provision, calling
Vance’s claim untrue and suggesting it was driven by US domestic politics; the
source asked why Iran would spend US$12 bln buying US agricultural products.
