June 22 — Asked whether Lithuania had agreed to reopen a temporary chargé
d’affaires and whether China would reopen its embassy to restore bilateral ties,
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the current difficulties in
China‑Lithuania relations stem from Lithuania’s violation of the One‑China
principle and its reversal of political commitments in the diplomatic
communique. Guo said China has repeatedly stated its position, keeps
communication channels open, and hopes Lithuania will promptly correct the error
and return to adherence to the One‑China principle to create conditions for
normalising relations.
