A US diplomat told Axios that US-Iran talks, which began Sunday morning local
time and have continued in various formats with minimal interruption, made
progress on keeping the Strait of Hormuz fully open after recent Iranian
statements about possible closure. The talks also addressed a Lebanon
de‑escalation mechanism and ceasefire implementation. The diplomat said
discussions covered all components of the nuclear agreement and were productive
on implementing a memorandum of understanding, aligning positions, and planning
political and technical follow‑up.
