BYD has significantly stronger brand awareness among European consumers than
other Chinese brands, according to Bernstein analysts.
Xiaomi—despite not yet selling EVs in Europe—has also achieved high recognition,
likely supported by its strong presence in smartphones, IoT, and home
appliances, the analysts said. This positions it well for its planned European
EV expansion starting in 2027.
Beyond these leaders, most other Chinese brands still have limited or minimal
recognition. However, the analysts added that perceptions of Chinese vehicle
quality are improving as firms expand sales networks and strengthen after-sales
service.
