The United Arab Emirates is urging allies to form a multinational naval force to
reopen and secure the Strait of Hormuz, with Abu Dhabi saying it is prepared to
deploy its own navy as part of the effort. The proposed “Hormuz Security Force”
aims to escort shipping through the key Gulf waterway. The UAE is also working
with partners such as Bahrain on a UN Security Council mandate, though approval
could face resistance from Russia and China.
