Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong emphasized China's crucial role in
driving Asia's growth amid global economic challenges. Speaking at the Boao
Forum for Asia, Wong highlighted China’s vast domestic market as a powerful
engine for regional prosperity. He urged China to continue advocating for open,
rules-based trade, citing initiatives like the Belt and Road and the Asian
Infrastructure Investment Bank. Wong also proposed smaller plurilateral
agreements as a practical alternative to increasingly difficult multilateral
deals to sustain global trade momentum.
